Nature Sculpting Ikebana Workshop

Ikebana is the centuries-old Japanese art of sculpting with nature. The practice, which roughly translates to “making flowers come alive,” uses carefully selected blossoms, greenery and other natural elements to convey a specific feeling or emotion to an observer—just as a painting or sculpture might. Join workshop leader Nefertiti San Miguel as she helps you create a one-of-a-kind natural creation that speaks to your current emotions. Workshop will last approximately 45 minutes. No experience necessary!

This workshop is free, courtesy of the Bellforge Arts Center, though please consider bringing with you particular supplies you would like to include in your sculpture. A supply list can be found here.

About Martin Sexton

"The real thing, people." -Billboard

In 2020 American singer-songwriter Martin Sexton extends touring in support of his ninth studio release Mixtape of the Open Road. The Wall Street Journal and CMT premiered tracks from the album that since garnered much critical acclaim. "Outstanding taste in songwriting as well as a soul-marinated voice." -Rollingstone

Syracuse native Sexton got his start singing in the streets and subways of Boston in the early 90's. Still fiercely independent and headlining venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall, he has influenced a generation of contemporary artists. His songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs, Parenthood, Masters of Sex and in numerous films, though it's his incendiary live show, honest lyrics, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for more.

About Pete Muller & The Kindred Souls

Pete Muller is a problem solver. Whether he’s writing songs for his critically acclaimed albums, revolutionizing the way Wall Street works through applied mathematics, or crafting crosswords for the New York Times and Washington Post, the hyper-talented renaissance man always seems to have his eye on unlocking some deeper level of understanding. With his touching new album, Spaces, Muller takes on perhaps the biggest puzzle of them all: himself.

Recorded with Emmy Award-winning producer/arranger Rob Mathes (Sting, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Panic! At The Disco), Spaces is a lush and timeless collection, one that balances head and heart in equal measure as it wrestles with questions of love and connection and purpose and identity. The writing here is tender and poignant, fueled by profoundly empathetic character studies and remarkably vulnerable acts of self-reflection. The performances are warm and dynamic to match, mixing singer/songwriter intimacy with classic pop charm and jazz sophistication. Add it all up and you’ve got a rich, moving work of radical honesty that leaves no stone unturned in its examination of the tension between duty and fate, between commitment and escape, between who we are and who we’re meant to be.

Spaces follows Muller’s widely lauded 2019 release, Dissolve, which earned praise everywhere from American Songwriter to People Magazine, led to tour dates around the country, and helped land festival appearances from Montreux to Telluride. He is currently touring with his band The Kindred Souls, celebrating Pete’s ninth Top 30 charting song on Mediabase’s Adult Contemporary Radio Chart.

Described as "equal parts Mark Twain, college professor, and musical icon, Livingston maintains a performance schedule of more than a hundred shows a year, delighting audiences with his charm and vast repertoire of his 22 albums and popular classics. Livingston has written top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor and has appeared with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Buffet. He is equally at home with a range of musical genres - folk, pop, gospel, jazz - and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. In addition to his performance schedule, Livingston has taught stage performance for over 30 years, beginning at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1989, passing on the extensive knowledge gained from his long career on the road to the next generation of musicians. Liv is an airplane-flying, motorcycle-riding, singing storyteller, delighting audiences with his charm for over 50 years.

About Ash & Eric

Ash & Eric have never shied away from life’s hard edges. The married couple’s new album “Sure” (May 2022) is “a tale of love… [with] some heartaches and a pinch of disputation along the way” (Americana UK). Hailing from the gritty heart of New England (Worcester, MA), the two find consolation in discovering beauty in the challenges of life. Their musings reflect the hope and pain we all experience, sung in voices as vulnerable and honest as their lyrics. Their songs feel like a warm welcome, a shoulder to lean on and a hand to hold at the end of a long day. No Depression says their writing will leave listeners “...coming away from many of these [songs] cleansed,”. Their warm harmonies, swirling acoustic guitars, and easy stage presence have earned them a dedicated following in the emerging US folk scene, performing with folk legends like Livingston Taylor, Mark Erelli and Vance Gilbert. Their independent 9-song release, “Sure”, was recorded, mixed and produced by Eric at a boarding school in Western Massachusetts, and will be accompanied by a feature-length film, releasing fall 2022.
